Are Maryland Wills Public Records?

The wills are held for safekeeping by the Register of Wills but they are not part of the public records. In the State of Maryland you may not review the Will of a living person if it is in the custody of the Register of Wills and Wills are kept sealed. Wills and probate records of deceased individuals do become public records and may be reviewed in the Register’s Office and by those individuals who have a need to review as provided for under Maryland law.
