I Found an Unsigned Maryland Will, What Now?
A question was recently asked about what can be done if you find a Maryland will, of a family member, but the will is unsigned and it appears it may have been filed with the county.
You should contact the clerk at the register of wills for the county in which the will was filed. It is possible and often the case that a copy of a will is unsigned but the filed will is sign. I make digital scans of my clients’ signed wills before I file the wills but not everyone does this, they often file the original and when they need a copy they print the original word document thus it is unsigned and shouldn’t then be signed again.
