How Do I Change My Resident Agent in Maryland?

At some point you may have reason to change your company’s resident agent. To do so, you will need to login to your business account at the Maryland Business Express website where you can access the Change Resident Agent form. This document must be submitted by mail or in person. The cost is $25.00. If you submit the document by mail, be sure to include a check made payable to the State Department of Assessments and Taxation.

You will also need your current resident agent to submit a statement of resignation to SDAT, which can be done by mail or in person. Be sure to have the resigning resident agent mail a copy of their resignation to your company for your records. There is no official form required for your resident agent’s resignation and there is no fee. In most cases, processing can take up to four to six weeks, however, this process can be expedited to seven business days for $50.00.
