Maryland Property Deed Search

Under Maryland law all property deeds are part of the state public record. Property deeds, mortgage documents, easements, liens and other related document recordings are managed by the Clerk of the Circuit Court in each Maryland county. After a document is recorded by the county land records department, the county then “indexes” the document thus making it available on-line. Each county works at a different speed, with different volumes, with some taking as little as a couple of weeks and others taking several months to index a recorded document.

Recorded document requests can be made to the Clerk of Circuit Court or online searches can be performed through a searchable database provided by the Maryland Judiciary. Use of the system requires a registration. Alternatively you can contact our office and we can assist with a search or answer your questions regarding the search you are attempting.

Each county may have slightly different categories for search but most include: Block, Address, Instruments, Individual Search, Corporation Search, Corporation Soundex, Individual Soundex, SDAT, Block Books, Active Indices, Retired Indices, and Plats.
